Optimal Payments' chair Johnson steps down
Jonathan Comerford to replace outgoing Dale Johnson on interim basis as selection process kicks-off
Optimal Payments chairman Dale Johnson has decided to step down from his role at the global online payments provider due to “changing personal circumstances”.
Johnson, whose decision becomes effective from 20 November, will to be replaced by director Jonathan Comerford on an interim basis, while the company carries out a search for a long-term successor.
Johnson, who took up the role of chair in 2007, said he was grateful for the support he had received from board colleagues and the executive during his six year stint.
“I’ve been particularly proud of the work that Joel [Leonoff, CEO and president] and his team have done over the last three years to create a high-growth leader in the online and mobile payments sector,” Johnson added.
“On behalf of the board and employees, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Dale for his enormous commitment to the company over many years, and for his wise, thoughtful leadership and guidance, which have been an essential part of creating a successful, innovative and diversified international company,” Leonoff said.
Comerford has served on the board of directors for over four years and, according to Optimal, will bring “a deep knowledge of the company and extensive governance experience to his role”.
Last month, Optimal received confirmation of its licence to act as a vendor to egaming operators in New Jersey ahead of its online launch later this month. The payment provider had previously signed a deal with US casino supplier Bally Technologies allowing it to offer payments and related services directly to its online gaming clients.
