Boylesports launches Facebook app
Operator launches WSOP Fantasy League on social network.
Irish operator Boylesports has become the latest operator to move to boost its presence on Facebook, launching its WSOP Fantasy League app on the social network ahead of this summer’s World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
The app, based on traditional fantasy sports rules, allows players to select a team of 5 poker professionals from the 180 expected to compete in the tournament, scoring points based on the number of final tables their sections reach in the 50 bracelet events, with the chance to win prizes including an iPad 3.
Boyles is the third operator to launch a fantasy sports app on Facebook in the past week, with PKR releasing a similar WSOP app, and Betfair bringing out a fantasy football product ahead of this summer’s European championships.
Boyles’ poker manager Ciaran Corbett commented: “Here at Boylepoker.com we are showing our commitment to Poker by developing this app and also getting behind the biggest Poker event of the year; The WSOP.
“Our Fantasy League has been enjoyed by our customers for a number of years and by bringing it to Facebook, we hope everyone can share the fun with their friends,” he explained.
The launch is the latest move by Boyles, which has been involved in a flurry of activity over the past month. Following the appointment of Keith O’Loughlin as CEO of Boylesports Online, the operator has signed deals to take delivery of Buzz Sports’ ZonePlay product and Net Entertainment’s casino content for its desktop and mobile platforms, while its sports betting app has been added to Apple’s App Store.
