PKR launches Facebook fantasy poker app
Players can select a 'team' for upcoming World Series and share with friends on social network.
Poker operator PKR has launched a fantasy poker app on Facebook in anticipation of this summer’s World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
A fusion of poker, fantasy sports and social media, the app allows players to select a team of eight professionals from a list of 180 competing in the series, which begins on Sunday and runs until July before recommencing in October with the main event final table.
Players score points in relation to the finishing position of their selections in up to 59 bracelet events, with prizes on offer including an iPad 3 for the winner. They can also invite Facebook friends and create private leagues on the social network.
Community manager Dan Grant said: “Fantasy sports are all the rage…but the poker world is lacking its own established WSOP equivalent.”
The app is PKR’s first on Facebook, and the operator has followed the likes of Betfair, which is poised to launch an app focusing on next month’s Euro 2012 football championships.
