Wynn Interactive applies for New Jersey licence
Details of applications have not been made public but company would require a land-based partner to enter the market
The online arm of casino group Wynn Resorts has filed for an egaming licence in New Jersey, according to reports.
Wynn Interactive, which has also applied to become an online poker operator in Nevada, has never launched an online offering and is not known to have online gaming software.
In 2011 the company led by Steve Wynn entered into a non-binding agreement with PokerStars with a view to entering the US egaming market, a deal which subsequently collapsed following Black Friday and the shutdown of PokerStars’ American-facing operations.
Wynn Resorts do not have a bricks and mortar property in New Jersey, meaning it would be required to partner with an existing casino operator to obtain a licence there.
The Press of Atlantic City reported Wynn Interactive has applied for a casino service licence, hinting that it will aim to provide egaming software to one of Atlantic City’s 12 casinos. Further details of its application have not been made public.
Just two Atlantic City casinos, the Revel and the Atlantic Club, have yet to announce their online gaming partner.
Agreements include those between Trump’s Plaza and Taj Mahal properties with Betfair and Ultimate Gaming respectively, as well as PokerStars and Resorts. Earlier this month online and social gaming operator Gamesys confirmed it will partner with Tropicana Casino and Resort for an egaming launch in the Garden State.
