Sky Bet hires News International veteran
Rob Painter joins Leeds-based operator from The Sun as marketing director
Sky Bet has named Rob Painter as its new marketing director, with the newspaper industry veteran joining the company from The Sun newspaper.
Painter held the same position at other News International brands including The Times and The Sunday Times, and was involved in the launch of the Sun on Sunday newspaper before leaving the company last month. He replaces Ted Moss at Sky Bet, with the former marketing chief taking on a new position within BSkyB as brand director for premium products.
Richard Flint, managing director of Sky Bet, said Painter would be a useful addition to the team following the gaming company’s recent expansion drive. “[Rob is] a highly skilled individual in the field of marketing and we feel his appointment will be hugely beneficial to the further progression of the business,” he added.
Commenting on his new role Painter, said he was really looking forward to working with the Leeds-based firm. “Sky Betting and Gaming is reputed to be one of the best companies to work for in the industry and the teams are truly passionate about growing the business to its full potential,” he said.

Cashcade founders Patrick Southon, Simon Collins and Michael Buckley are set to list a new mobile and social gaming venture on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), via a £12m reverse takeover of technology firm Pursuit Dynamics. Gaming Realms plc names Southon as chief executive and Collins as executive director.
Former Cashcade chairman Michael Buckley and financial director Mark Segal will take on the same roles with Gaming Realms. Noel Rowse will be installed as chief operating officer, a position he held with Cashcade before the Foxy Bingo operator was acquired by bwin.party. Former bwin.party chief executive Jim Ryan is one of two non-executive directors along with former Sky International strategic advisor Mark Wilson.
Paddy Power has appointed former Ryanair CEO and COO Michael Cawley as an independent non-executive director of the company and member of the Audit Committee. Commenting, Nigel Northridge, chairman of Paddy Power said: “Michael is a highly accomplished executive who will add very substantial commercial, financial and international business experience to the Board. I warmly welcome him to Paddy Power.”
London Capital Group chief operating officer Rachel Woodford has stepped down from the board, following an initial announcement in January.
