Sky Bet hires News International veteran
Rob Painter joins Leeds-based operator from The Sun as marketing director
Sky Bet has named Rob Painter as its new marketing director, with the newspaper industry veteran joining the company from The Sun newspaper.
Painter also held the same position at other News International brands including The Times and The Sunday Times, and was involved in the launch of the Sun on Sunday newspaper before leaving the company last month. He replaces Ted Moss at Sky Bet, with the former marketing chief taking on a new position within BSkyB as brand director for premium products.
Richard Flint, managing director of Sky Betting and Gaming, said Painter would be a useful addition to the team following the gaming company’s recent expansion drive. “[Rob is] a highly skilled individual in the field of marketing and we feel his appointment will be hugely beneficial to the further progression of the business,” he added.
Commenting on his new role Painter, said he was “really looking forward to working” with the Leeds-based firm. “Sky Betting and Gaming is reputed to be one of the best companies to work for in the industry and the teams are truly passionate about growing the business to its full potential,” he said.
News of Painter’s appointment comes weeks after Sky Bet became the official betting & gaming partner of Championship football club Leeds United for the coming season in its first deal with a professional football club.
