Mr Green makes Italy debut
Operator continues drive into new markets with Italy launch following January's Mybet Italia acquisition
Online casino operator Mr Green has launched in the Italian market, seven months after agreeing to acquire mybet Italia and its accompanying licence.
Mr Green CEO Per Norman confirmed to eGaming Review that the firm was now live in the country ahead of Friday’s Q2 results, adding that the firm had added a “large number of games” for the launch.
While the Italian regulator AAMS requires new entrants to hold a licence, it is not currently issuing new licences to operators meaning acquisition was Mr Green’s only route into Italy.
The firm had hoped to go live during H1, although the acquisition and transfer of the licence was only approved by the AAMS at the end of March.
Mr Green’s Italy licence allows the firm to offer sports betting, poker and bingo in the country, although it is understood the company has no plans to expand beyond online casino at this stage.
The firm has been expanding its presence beyond its core Nordic markets in recent months and said during May’s Q1 results that European markets excluding Scandinavia now account for more than half of its revenue.
In July Mr Green was granted a GB licence, with Norman saying the firm had a strategy to “operate in several regulated markets”.
