Mr Green plots UK growth after product overhaul
Operator to follow new appointments and GB licence with a revamp of product portfolio later this year
Mr Green is planning a major product upgrade later this year as the firm looks to build scale after a series of new management appointments and the acquisition of a British licence.
CEO Per Norman told eGaming Review this morning the planned product upgrade is expected to take place later this year and that it will include an improved mobile offering.
Earlier this week the online casino operator announced two management appointments in newly created roles with Jan Tjernell taking on the post of general counsel and Frida Adrian appointed head of investor relations.
“The appointments are to strengthen the management team in the group company,” Norman said. “We have been relying on external advisors in those areas so we wanted to bring them in-house instead. We are growing, so it is a natural next step for us as a company to take,” he added.
Last week the firm was granted a British licence in what it described as a “strategic decision to increase its presence and the proportion of gaming revenue from regulated markets”.
“It is the group’s strategy to operate in several regulated markets, which makes it satisfying that Mr Green has been granted a licence in the UK,” Norman said.
“Mr Green is keen to see more countries implementing regulation that allows more players to conduct operations on equal terms, at the same time as assuming social responsibility for gaming,” he added.
In May Mr Green reported a 26.6% year-on-year increase in revenues to SEK195.2m (£15.2m) for Q1, but a heavy marketing spend resulted in a 34% drop in EBITDA.
The firm is currently embroiled in a legal challenge over an £8.5m Austrian tax charge, seeking recourse both through the Austrian courts and the European Commission. Norman said there has been no recent progress with the case and expects the process “to take some time”.
