GTECH G2's Hagen joins Betfair
Nick Hagen starts at the London-listed operator next week in the newly created role of sports operations director.
Betfair has appointed industry veteran Nick Hagen to the newly created role of sports operations director.
Hagen, who begins his new job next Monday, joins after more than three years with GTECH G2 where he was most recently chief operating officer for sports betting.
He has close to 15 years experience working in the egaming industry, having first joined Sporting Index as head of trading in 1997.
After setting up the Romanian-facing Betcafe brand while at GTECH G2, Hagen’s new role will see him oversee the development of Betfair’s risk based systems, which the operator expects to play a larger role in the overall business once its new sports site is launched in 2012.
He is one of several new recruits from the London-listed betting exchange over the last few months, the most recent being former Microsoft UK director of corporate affairs and citizenship Matt Lambert, who will begin his new role as Betfair’s head of public affairs in January.
Group operations director Ian Chuter said of the appointment: “Nick brings a massive amount of relevant experience to Betfair and I am confident that his experience and drive will enable us to reach our goal of becoming the provider of the ultimate sports betting experience.”
