Ex-Microsoft director to join Betfair
New director of public affairs will begin his new role in January after more than a decade with the UK arm of the software giant.
Matt Lambert, the current director of corporate affairs and citizenship at Microsoft UK, has joined Betfair as its new director of public affairs.
Lambert, who begins his new role in January 2012, replaces Tim Phillips who left the London-listed operator in April.
He has been with Microsoft UK for more than a decade, first joining in November 1999 as director of government affairs, and his arrival follows the recruitment of Betfair’s new CEO Breon Corcoran.
The betting exchange has also recently brought in a new UK director in Peter Marcus, while Ian Chuter arrived as group operations director in June, but last week chief commercial officer Niall Wass announced his departure after missing out on the CEO post to Corcoran.
Betfair chief legal and regulatory officer Martin Cruddace said of the appointment: “. Betfair is at the forefront of many of the conversations taking place that are aimed at creating a competitive and viable regulated gaming industry and Matt’s experience will be crucial in enabling us to build on this.”
