Flutter founder Hannah retires from Betfair board
Joshua Hannah, co-founder of Flutter, leaves role of non-executive director after 12 years with Betfair
Flutter.com co-founder Joshua Hannah has retired from the Betfair board almost 12 years after his company merged with the exchange betting giant.
Hannah co-founded Flutter in 1999 along with Vince Monical and served as the company’s chief executive up until its merger with the Betfair Group in 2002 “ a deal which saw Hannah appointed to Betfair’s board as a director.
Hannah became a non-executive director in 2008 after the company was incorporated and continued to serve on the board after Betfair’s flotation in 2010.
He is also a general partner at Matrix Partners, having joined the US-based private equity investment firm in 2009.
“I would like to thank Josh for his enormous contribution to the company over the past decade,” Gerald Corbett, chairman at Betfair, said.
“He has seen the company grow from its early days as an internet start-up, through to flotation and to where we are today,” he added.
Last month Betfair announced profits soared 56% to £32.5m during the six-month period ending 31 October.
