Betsson hires ex-Google marketing chief
Marion Gamel hired as CMO and will replace incumbent Patrik Öqvist in January
Betsson has appointed former Google and Eventbrite marketer Marion Gamel as its new chief marketing officer, eGaming Review has learnt.
Gamel will take on the role next month, replacing Patrik Öqvist who will leave the firm by the end of the year.
“We are delighted that Marion will join Betsson,” Ulrik Bengtsson, Betsson Malta CEO, told eGR.
“Spending seven years in senior positions at Google, she is clearly digital. She has also created a name for herself as a great leader,” he added.
Gamel held a number of marketing roles at Google, most recently as head of marketing for emerging markets, tasked with driving Google’s growth on key products in the region. She later went on to serve as vice president of marketing for Eventbrite.
Betsson has seen a number of staff changes since former CEO Magnus Silfverberg left the firm in July, including the hire of Richard Smith as head of mobile and the departure of Betsson Denmark managing director Peter Weinreich last month.
