Betfair reclaims Oddschecker top spot
Operator replaces bet365 at the top of the monthly rankings as Coral moves up a place to sixth spot
Betfair has ousted bet365 from the top of Oddschecker’s February bet slip click rankings after its sportsbook product continued its recent upwards trajectory.
The operator accumulated 19.05% of total slip clicks across the month, an increase on the 17.98% posted in January and enough to edge in front of bet365 for the first time since September, which saw its share fall from 19.12% to 17.84%.
Betfair’s surge to the top of the rankings was down to continued growth in its sportsbook product which on its own garnered a 5.34% market share, up on January’s 4.37%, while its exchange halted its recent downward trend after posting a relatively stable month-on-month total of 13.71%.
Meanwhile, BetVictor held on to third spot despite its overall share having dipped from 11.26% to 10.53% after a significant reduction in its UK football slip clicks, which fell from 20.14% to 13.96%.
Paddy Power and William Hill remained in fourth and fifth place with 8.42% and 7.92% respectively while Coral (5.97%) leapfrogged Sky Betting and Gaming into sixth spot after the latter saw its share fall from 6.43% to 5.87%.
Ladbrokes cemented eighth place after a marginally improved 5.02% while Stan James and Betfred swapped positions nine and 10 with 3.05% and 2.83% respectively.
Perhaps surprisingly the ‘Who killed Lucy Beale?’ market, from the UK television soap opera Eastenders, was one of the most popular betting events of the month and saw Betfair come out top with a 17.46% share of all entertainment-related slip clicks.
Bet365 was next in line with 16.74% while Sky Betting and Gaming took third after securing 11.8% of all entertainment slip clicks.
