Betfair cuts Oddschecker gap by close to half
Bet365 still leads the odds comparison site's top 10, but its advantage has been brought down to 2.2%.
Betfair has almost halved bet365’s lead at the top of January’s Oddschecker Top 10, bringing the gap down from 4.2% to just 2.2%.
The Gibraltar-based exchange operator recorded a 16.6% market share over the course of the month, compared to bet365’s 18.8%.
Its increased market share came courtesy of 19% of the Australian Open tennis market plus improved performances in racing and UK football.
BetVictor, in the first month since it rebranded from its previous identity of Victor Chandler, leapfrogged Ladbrokes and Boylesports to enter the top five for the first time since February 2011.
Lower down the list SkyBet benefited from its expansive advertising campaign to close the gap to 9th-placed Betfred after recording a 41% market share of football specials.
