Oddschecker: Bet365 extends market share lead
Bet365 has again increased its market share, building on the 18.7% share it achieved in January.
After breaking the record for the percentage of market clicks in January, Bet365 continued to see its share rise last month, ending February more than three percentage points clear of its nearest rival in Oddschecker’s top 10 with 18.9%.
A strong performance in the ante-post racing market ahead of the Cheltenham Festival helped Betfair keep pace with the Stoke-based bookmaker, while it remained well ahead of third-placed Paddy Power.
The betting exchange, which recently joined a number of UK-founded bookmakers in moving some of its operation offshore, recorded a 24% market share in that particular market, helping it increase its overall market share by 0.1% to 15.7%.
Bet365, Betfair and Paddy Power all achieved a double-digit market share of rugby betting, making the most of the start of the Six Nations championship.
After returning to the top ten in December, Boylesports has been on the move again, leapfrogging Betfred into ninth position with a 4.4% share, a high-point since its return.
Moving in the opposite direction is Stan James, the Gibraltar-based bookmaker dropping 0.6% and two places, with William Hill and Victor Chandler moving higher up the list as a result.
Skybet also dropped down a place, swapping positions with Coral after its market share fell 0.5% to a three-month low of 5%.
