Winamax debuts "incognito" poker tables
Paris-based operator adds anonymous tables to its poker software
French operator Winamax has become the latest in a number of major poker operators to add anonymous player tables to its poker client.
The new “incognito” feature enables players at cash game tables to hide their table name from other players, while table chat is also disabled to ensure anonymity.
Incognito tables are available from a list of six game-types at all stake levels on the desktop client, iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
The move follows the addition of anonymous tables to a number of skins on Playtech’s iPoker Network including TitanPoker, Betclic and Betfair, which have since been rolled out across the entire network.
Anonymous tables are aimed at recreational players who are believed to be put off from playing poker against professional players using tracking tools to monitor their play.
Microgaming skins including Ladbrokes were some of the first to incorporate the feature in 2010, followed by the Bodog Poker Network which later made all its tables anonymous.
Winamax has gained a reputation as one of the more innovative poker operators, although it recently saw claims that Playtech infringed on intellectual property rights regarding its Expresso poker game dismissed by a French court.
In August Winamax argued Playtech’s Twister poker product infringed on the rights of its jackpot prizepool sit’n’go game released in August last year, and requested that the game be made unavailable to players in France.
eGaming Review recently revealed Winamax would not be applying for a Great Britain gambling licence and had ceased marketing to British customers last month.
