Bwin pulls plug on Manchester United casino app
Operator removes Manchester United casino application from Apple App Store, says it has no plans to launch skins with other football clubs
Bwin.party has pulled the plug on its Manchester United-branded mobile casino application less than five months after it first went live, eGaming Review has learned.
The app used bwin.party’s recently launched Stadium platform, and had been personalised to include some of the football team’s star players including Wayne Rooney.
The operator said it had removed the Manchester United casino application after bwin.party’s three-year partnership with the English Premier League club came to an end this summer.
“With our shift towards more CRM and digital marketing, we chose not to renew it [the partnership with Manchester United],” a bwin.party spokesperson told eGR. “As a result the Manchester United app was removed from our store as we no longer had the rights to the assets,” the spokesperson added.
And plans to roll out the product with other football partners such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been put on ice.
“Although we don’t have any immediate plans to roll out new skins with other partners it does form part of our B2B product suite which we can offer to existing and new clients,” they added.
The news comes after Marathonbet this week announced it had replaced bwin.party as the global betting partner of Manchester United for the next three years.
