Bwin.party to launch Manchester United online casino
Operator plans to roll out more skins with other sports partners if the venture with UK Premier League club is a success
Bwin.party will launch a Manchester United-branded mobile casino application later today, with plans to roll out more skins with its other sports partners if the venture proves to be a success.
The Manchester United mobile casino will use the operator’s recently launched bwin Stadium platform, and has been personalised to include some of the football team’s star players such as Wayne Rooney.
The bwin Stadium platform has been produced by a small start-up studio in Israel, which bwin.party identified at the back end of last year.
CEO Norbert Teufelberger told analysts at bwin.party’s 2014 results presentation last week that the Manchester United casino would be used to “test” market appetite.
If successful, Teufelberger said the firm would produce similar skins for large sports organisations willing to enter into a revenue sharing model and the firm currently has sponsorship deals with several other major football clubs including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
“If it works, it’s obviously a great engagement tool. It’s a great way to potentially engage with new partners and extend our reach,” Teufelberger said.
“It is great technology, extraordinarily flexible, and it only takes us a few days to skin it. So if it is successful we will strive to roll it out with substantially more partners across Europe,” he added.
