Need to Know: B2G whizz
Winning egaming contracts with state-backed providers was the focus of last week's most exciting news, with both Microgaming and NetEnt allying themselves with lottery suppliers to win new clients in the burgeoning business-to-government (B2G) space, and Playtech landing a supply deal with Finland's new online casino and poker monopoly. But as today's feature argues, there is one jackpot that every lottery provider is hoping for.
WINNING egaming contracts with state-backed providers was the focus of last week’s most exciting news, with both Microgaming and NetEnt allying themselves with lottery suppliers to win new clients in the burgeoning business-to-government (B2G) space, and Playtech landing a supply deal with Finland’s new online casino and poker monopoly.
First up was Intralot egaming subsidiary Intralot Interactive, which revealed it is to launch casino games in Italy with Net Entertainment (NetEnt), and pledged to seek further opportunities with Net Ent in other territories.
News of the deal was followed just a day later by that of Microgaming licencing its suite of casino games to Betware, an Icelandic lottery supplier boasting clients including the national lotteries of Denmark and Spain, the Icelandic soccer pools and the Canadian state of British Columbia.
The two operators, of course, follow Playtech, which formed its SciPlay joint venture with lottery supplier Scientific Games back in January, and which last week won the sexiest B2B lottery client by the Baltic, offering online casino and poker back-end to Finland’s new online casino and poker monopoly, Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY).
Sure, Finland is a small country, albeit a rich one, but the deal also provides useful kudos for Playtech in a B2G market that, as talking heads including SciPlay boss Rick Weil and former GTech G2 president Atul Bali argue in today’s Business to Government feature, is soon likely to include the biggest catch of all for new B2G provider: the United States of America. Enjoy.
