Yggdrasil launches ‘one-stop shop’ B2B publishing division
Swedish-headquartered games studio to offer clients ‘keys to its kingdom’ in new franchising deal
Online gambling developer Yggdrasil has launched a B2B publishing division, which aims to provide customers with the tools required to build, create and offer their own B2B gaming solutions.
Under the new arrangement, Yggdrasil will franchise its content portfolio, platform technology and its new GATI (game adaption tools and interface) product.
The three core elements of this include YG Franchise (platform IP licensing), YG Masters (game development and distribution) and YG Game IP (game IP licensing).
Customers will be able to license any or all of these core elements.
Yggdrasil head of publishing Björn Krantz hailed the new licensing business as a “ground-breaking” approach to the creation of content, publishing and game distribution, something he claimed will “significantly change” the industry.
“We are really excited to showcase our new publishing business, which will give operators, studios and suppliers all the tools, tech and knowledge to take control of their content production and distribution and create unique player experiences.
“In a very short space of time we have become well-known for our highly innovative online gaming content, platform and software solutions, but we are now taking this to another level altogether,” he added.
The launch comes as egaming firms increasingly turn away from B2C gaming in favour of the B2B business model.
Gaming Realms sold its B2C business to River iGaming in the summer of 2019, before River iGaming also chose to focus on its B2B business following a strategic review.
Malta-headquartered operator Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) is also rumoured to be considering selling its B2C division amid a strategic review.
In January, EGR Intel analysed whether this is the start of an industry-wide pivot away from the traditional B2C business.
