William Hill to reveal innovations at Digital Shoreditch
Operator plans to debut a series of new apps, as it sponsors festival which brings together Europe's largest tech community
William Hill will unveil at least two new apps on Monday developed by its Shoreditch-based tech hub WH Labs as part of its sponsorship of the Digital Shoreditch festival taking place in London this May.
The operator will display a prototype of its ‘Get In The Race’ app, which uses Google Cardboard to create a 3D horseracing VR experience on a smartphone, as well as an alpha launch of its re-engineered darts app.
The firm will announce the launch of a new developer site which it hopes will foster future collaborations at the event, which will feature more than 15,000 participants and over 500 speakers between 11 and 24 May 2015.
William Hill’s sponsorship of the Digital Shoreditch festival is seen as a wider move by the firm to embed itself within the heart of London’s tech community.
“We’ve only been in Shoreditch for a year but we’re already benefiting hugely from harnessing the rich local environment for technical talent,” Crispin Nieboer, director of corporate development and innovation, said.
“The WH Labs team is now delivering innovative new products that have gone through to live launch, and collaborating with local partners to deliver break-through innovations at speed,” he added.
The firm opened its Shoreditch tech hub in 2013, with the aim of driving innovation in the egaming industry. A team of around 45 currently works in the office, with plans for further expansion this year.
