William Hill scoops cybersecurity award ahead of Lloyds and McAfee
London-listed operator earns title at cybersecurity SC Awards 2020 ceremony
William Hill has been named the best security team at the SC Awards 2020 after beating off competition from Lloyds Banking Group and McAfee.
The operator was praised for its in-house training methods, anti-DDoS platform, real-time data analytics and end-user tools.
The SC Awards judges said: “William Hill’s security team shows itself to be an innovator, implementer of best practice, and having a security approach that covers the key areas of people, process and technology.
“This team is clearly dedicated to their task, with a clear vision, insight and innovation – exactly what businesses need,” they concluded.
Killian Faughnan, Hills’ chief information security officer, told EGR Technology that pipping Lloyds and McAfee to the award highlighted his team’s efforts.
Faughnan said: “It’s great to have been selected for this award amongst stiff competition, which highlights some of the great work the team is doing across William Hill.
“It is recognition of the innovation and collaboration we strive for in what we do, and the hard work and successes of the whole team in delivering on that ambition,” he added.
The SC Awards are organised by SC Media, one the leading B2B publications focusing on cybersecurity in the UK and Europe and features judges from the likes of BT, Worldpay and the People’s Postcode Lottery.
