William Hill recruits new chief financial officer

William Hill has appointed former IWG CFO Eric Hageman to be its new chief financial officer. Hageman spent three years at IWG, a Switzerland-based business that works with a number of multinational companies to improve efficiency through tailored workspace environments. A veteran of the communications sector, where he held a number of C-level roles, Hageman also spent nine years as an investment banker for international brokerage Deutsche Bank.

William Hill CEO Ulrik Bengtsson said he was “delighted” to welcome Hageman to the firm. “He brings a wealth of financial and operational experience within digital and technology driven industries as well as senior management experience,” Bengtsson said. “I look forward to working with him as we lead William Hill through the next chapter. I also want to thank Matt Ashley for his substantial contribution to William Hill through the challenging period of the global pandemic.” Speaking about his new role, incoming CFO Hageman said: “It is an exciting time to join William Hill and I look forward to working with the team and its shareholder Caesars on the next chapter.” Hageman will take up his new role on 7 June, including a position on the William Hill Caesars management board after a short handover period with Ashley. Ashley will now become CFO of enterprise software company Micro Focus, having spent just over a year with William Hill. Ashley’s departure is the second major C-suite exit in the space of two months following the departure of UK chief product officer (CPO) David Fuke in May. A search for Fuke’s successor is currently underway.
