William Hill hires Flutter integration director as new COO
Stephen Parry to arrive from Flutter in the summer as National Express US CEO Matt Ashley becomes new CFO
William Hill has recruited Flutter Entertainment integration director Stephen Parry as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Parry is currently working as integration director for Flutter Entertainment and is overseeing the imminent multi-billion-pound acquisition of The Stars Group.
Parry – who will join William Hill in summer 2020 – previously served as MD of Paddy Power Betfair between January 2017 and October 2019. He also worked for Vodafone in a variety of different roles over a 15-year period.
William Hill has also appointed Matt Ashley as its new chief financial officer (CFO) after Adrian Marsh pulled the plug on his move to the bookmaker last week.
Ashley most recently served as group business development director for National Express and previously headed up the firm’s US business as president and CEO. He also served as a director of financial auditing firm Deloitte LLP and has more than 20 years of experience in financial services.
William Hill has confirmed that current CFO Ruth Prior will leave the company to join Element Materials Technology after the company’s AGM on 15 May 2020, working with Ashley on a handover process.
William Hill CEO Ulrik Bengtsson said of the dual hire: “These two key appointments reinforce our focus on building a high calibre team. Matt and Stephen bring significant strengths to the company.
“Matt has a wealth of international financial and US experience as well as being an experienced CFO of a FTSE 250-listed company.
“Stephen comes with a first-class track record of driving digital change, operational focus and customer experience in senior roles at Vodafone and Flutter. I look forward to welcoming them both to William Hill,” Bengtsson added.
