Wednesday round-up 29/10
This weekâs round-up includes Sky Bet trialling iBeacon technology and Betfred adding live streaming to its mobile app
Sky Betting and Gaming has begun trialling Appleâs iBeacon technology at two English Football League stadiums as the operator continues its mobile innovation push. The firm is using the technology to send localised push notifications to match-goers at Leeds Unitedâs Elland Road and Rotherham Unitedâs New York Stadium grounds via Bluetooth from its mobile app. iOS users at matches can opt-in to receive notifications such as a welcome message from Sky Bet which when swiped takes the user to the football page within the Sky Bet app.
UK bookmaker Betfred teamed up with horseracing content providers At The Races and Racing UK to add live streaming capabilities to its sports betting app for the first time. The capability was added to Betfredâs mobile site and app as part of an update last week allowing customers to watch selected races from the UK and Ireland, and customers wishing to watch the streams must have either placed a bet on that dayâs racing or have the funds required to do so.
French operator Winamax became the latest in a number of major poker operators to add anonymous player tables to its mobile poker client. The new âincognitoâ feature enables players at cash game tables to hide their table name from other players, while table chat is also disabled to ensure anonymity. Incognito tables are available from a list of six game-types at all stake levels on the firmâs iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps, as well as its desktop client.
Coral Interactive became the fourth major operator to sign up to content supplier Odoboâs online marketplace and integrate its suite of HTML5 casino games. The Gibraltar-based operator will be able to select from Odoboâs range of third party mobile casino content, including a number of exclusive titles and Julian Jarvis, chief business affairs officer at Odobo, described Coral as a âsubstantial gainâ for the supplier.
Meanwhile William Hill updated its casino application to extend support for iOS 8 and add a new icon to its App Store listing, while BetVictor made a number of enhancements to its sports betting and casino application to improve its cashier capabilities and make minor bug fixes.
