Wednesday round-up 03/12
This weekâs news round-up includes a big launch from Rank Group and Betfred shutting down its Australia-facing mobile business
Rank Group brand Mecca Bingo rolled out a major update to its iOS app, allowing customers to utilise daily promotions including giveaways and prize draws within the app. New games have also been added and various stability improvements made for customers using devices with iOS8.
Elsewhere Betway updated its sports betting app to add a number of new features, including each way support for free bets placed on mobile and the addition of new casino games while support was also added for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices. Betsson also updated its iOS app to make general UX improvements, and Mr Green rolled out general bug fixes to its flagship iOS casino app.
Bodog Casino has launched a number of exclusive 3D slots games that operate without the need for users to download a client. The operator claims the games â named Good Girl and Goblins – to be some of the marketâs first non-download 3D slots games available on mobile devices and form part of Bodog Casinoâs product suite which includes RNG and live dealer products.
Betfred has closed its Australia-facing mobile sportsbook operation a little over six months after launch. The UK-based firm started taking bets in May this year after being granted a licence by the Northern Territory Gaming Commission, however the competitive market forced Betfred to questions its involvement in the market. âFollowing a review of the business it was felt that the market had become overpopulated, we have therefore decided that our marketing spend and ongoing infrastructure costs are best spent elsewhere,â John Haddock, chief executive Betfred Group, said.
Bet365 has added the latest releases from casino developer The Games Company to its mobile casino products. Both titles were developed in HTML5 as part of Odoboâs developer program, and TGC managing director Hans Winkelmann said he had identified a âstep changeâ towards HTML5-developed games. âThere is now no difference between the quality of our games in Flash and HTML5,â Winkelmann added.
