Veikkaus and win2day launch “industry-first” cross-border poker network
Finnish and Austrian operators partner to launch joint poker network powered by Playtech
Operators Veikkaus and win2day have partnered with Playtech to launch what the London-listed supplier described as the “industry’s first” cross-border poker network.
The deal will see the brands launch a joint poker network using liquidity from both player bases, which, according to Playtech, is the first time two regulated firms have partnered to share cross-border poker liquidity.
“This is a milestone in poker and the gaming industry, and we’re delighted to be at the heart of yet another industry-first providing two great brands with the leading poker,” Shimon Akad, COO of Playtech, said.
Timo Kiiskinen, a senior vice president at Veikkaus, added: “We are extremely happy with the overall product and the network’s performance so far, and are delighted to have launched on schedule.
“This is a great venture between ourselves, win2day and Playtech and we’re sure it will be a great success.”
Playtech recently reported a 17% year-on-year fall in 2016 poker revenues but said it remained “dedicated” to the vertical in what remains a challenging market globally.
In a bid to reverse iPoker’s fortunes, the supplier has investment more resources in its poker business, including the introduction of a new lobby and home tab, overhauling the software’s poker tables and launching a series of new game views.
