Unibet promotes Eskola to executive management team
Operator names head of gaming Daniel Eskola as chief product officer as COO Britt Boeskov takes requested break
Unibet has promoted head of gaming Daniel Eskola (pictured) to chief product officer as part of a company reshuffle prompted by COO Britt Boeskov’s requested break.
Boeskov is due to go on leave from July with Eskola, who starts his new role on 1 June, to pick up many of the responsibilities currently held by Boeskov. Chief executive Henrik Tjärnström yesterday informed staff of the management changes.
In his new permanent role, Eskola will oversee operations for gaming, sports betting, mobile and payments, while he will also join the executive management team.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with multiple business areas after having a strong focus on gaming for the last few years,” Eskola told eGaming Review this morning.
“The chance to join the executive management team as well will be a great experience to learn at a senior level within the company,” he added.
Unibet has also tasked Eskola with leading the search for a successor to his role as head of gaming with the firm currently reviewing external applications.
Eskola originally joined the Stockholm-listed operator as head of poker in June 2010, a role he held for over a year before being named head of gaming in October 2011.
In leading the gaming division, Eskola has overseen the launch of various new mobile gaming products and also headed-up the company’s move to leave Microgaming’s MPN network to launch a standalone poker product in partnership with Relax Gaming.
Unibet recently also took the decision to go it alone with its bingo product after the company decided not to renew its contract with Playtech’s Virtue Fusion which runs out in the coming months.
