Unibet to launch betting-focused commentary service
New remote system from Perform prices commentary teams with a steady stream of Opta stats to encourage in-play betting
Unibet has integrated a new commentary system that will allow the operator to add its own betting-related commentary service to live-streamed sporting events.
The technology, developed by Perform Group, lets Kindred’s commentary teams provide analysis from the comfort of their own home via a laptop and the software rather than flying around the world to events.
The system also provides a constant stream of betting stats and angles from Opta to help commentators facilitate in-play bets.
The Kindred sportsbook will add the broadcast service to its Watch and Bet content on La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
Kindred head of sportsbook Erik Bäcklund told EGR: “Whenever we bought exclusive rights and had to add commentary it was always very tough.
“Without being involved in media and broadcasting we could never send commentators to the stadiums, so we would send them to London or Vienna which is tough to organise and expensive.
“Perform’s remote commentary facilitation allows us to commentate from anywhere in the world.
“We’ve always been quite local in our strategy, we want to show local events and local leagues to our customers and now we can add a knowledgeable commentary in those markets.
“It also means the commentators can just do it from their home or from a studio so it’s exciting.”
Unibet has worked closely with Perform Group over the last two years on the software, and will use Opta betting statistics to provide insight and betting angles for punters.
Andrew Ashenden, EVP of betting at Perform Group, said: “It’s a significant development for the online gambling industry because it adds sophisticated personalisation to customer experience.
“It will certainly drive betting activity and should also drive customer acquisition because it differentiates the service.”
