UK regulator monitoring BetButler over payment issues
Customers urged to "engage" with UK bookmaker after complaints of fund withdrawal delays with regulator keeping a watching brief
The UK Gambling Commission has said it is monitoring UK-licensed bookmaker BetButler after having received a number of complaints regarding customer withdrawal problems.
As well as making the regulator aware of the issue, customers have been taking to social media in order to vent their frustration over the delays experienced in their receiving money.
“We are advising customers to continue to engage with BetButler over their withdrawals and be mindful of the advice offered by the Commission in relation to complaints,” a Gambling Commission spokesperson told eGaming Review.
“We are also pointing out to customers that licence holders have legal obligations to them, and that gambling contracts are legally enforceable under the Gambling Act 2005,” the spokesperson added.
The advice comes after BetButler recently acquired Bodugi Technology’s real-money social betting site’s customer database after the latter had its operating licence revoked.
The suspension came after Bodugi customers raised concerns over similar payment problems, exacerbated by the operator’s failure to respond to the regulator’s requests for information.
Bodugi Technology later took the decision to discontinue its B2C business to focus solely on its B2B operations.
