Tombola to boost software development team
Online bingo operator looks to significantly increase its technology workforce with the addition of 80 new staffers to its Sunderland HQ
Online bingo operator tombola has announced plans to increase its Sunderland-based headcount by 26% as part of a strategy to double its turnover and workforce within five years.
The recruitment drive, which forms part of its â20:20â growth strategy, will see tombola add an additional 80 staffers, the majority of which will be based in its new Wearside HQ office.
Approximately three-quarters of the new roles will be in software development, while the remaining 25% will consist of animators, graphic designers and product managers.
Tombola, which currently employs 310 people in Sunderland, recently unveiled plans to build a new £5m headquarters (pictured) adjacent to its current base in the north east of England.
The operator also has offices in Gibraltar, Milan and Madrid.
âWhat we want to do with our new office is create the best working environment for our team â modern, welcoming, a place where people enjoy coming to work,â Phil Cronin, tombola CEO, said.
âWeâre a tech company, and with the addition of these new positions, weâll be one of the biggest employers of software developers in the region â with about 120 positions.
âThe tech sector is increasingly important to the region and itâs exciting for us to be part of that.â
