Tabcorp promotes ex-Hills marketing chief to CMO
Claire Murphy replaces former chief marketing officer Michael Smith who left the Australian operator in November
Tabcorp has ended its four-month search for a new chief marketing officer (CMO) after promoting former William Hill Australia marketing chief Claire Murphy.
Murphy was this week handed the position on a permanent basis having been interim CMO since the departure of Michael Smith, who in November left after only 10 months into his role.
The appointment of Murphy, according to AdNews, will see the operator’s marketing functions, which include its wagering and media, keno and gaming services divisions, centralised under the CMO role following a review of the company’s marketing structure.
Murphy has worked in the Australian gambling industry for three years having carried out various UK-based marketing roles at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Visit London and Goodyear.
Her first role in the gambling sector came at Crown Resorts where she worked as general manager for marketing services and brands, before joining William Hill Australia as marketing director in 2013.
She joined Tabcorp last January as general manager marketing for keno and gaming.
News of Murphy’s appointment as CMO comes after Tabcorp recently announced a 9% year-on-year rise in H1 2016 digital turnover as the Australian operator prepares to launch its Sun Bets sportsbook product this year.
