Revenues from egaming operators in Sweden rose by 12.2% year-on-year during 2018, topping SEK12.1bn (£990m) in the final 12 months before the launch of the re-regulated market.
Egaming accounted for 52% of the total revenue of the Swedish gambling market, with overall revenues hitting SEK23.4bn (£1.9bn). Revenues from the land-based market fell by 7.9% YoY during 2018.

Revenues from unlicensed Swedish operators grew 12.4% year-on-year to SEK6.7bn during 2018, while licensed operator revenues fell by 2.3% to SEK16.7bn.
Svenska Spel egaming revenues rose by 20% YoY during 2018, increasing to SEK2.7bn, while fellow monopoly operator ATG (AB Trav och Galopp) reported a 5.2% rise in its egaming revenues for the period, with revenues jumping to SEK2.5bn.

The Swedish Gambling Authority and Swedish Consumer Agency have confirmed they will hold a conference on 2 April to “present the upcoming supervision, which includes areas such as duty of care and channeling and moderation in marketing.”
The meeting will occur two days after the reported deadline imposed by Swedish Minister for Civil Affairs Ardalan Sherakabi earlier this month.
In a high-level meeting with egaming licensees, Sherakabi gave operators up until 31 March to show a “noticeable change” in their marketing practices or face stricter regulation of advertising.
