Swedish operator recruits Carlander from Kindred Group as experienced trading exec returns to firm he left in 2018
Svenska Spel has appointed former employee Per Carlander as its new CPO for sports and racing. Carlander has returned to Svenska Spel after three years as Swedish country manager for Kindred Group’s Unibet brand. Prior to joining Kindred, Carlander spent 12 years with Svenska Spel, starting out as a sports trader in 2006 before eventually becoming head of live sports trading and integrity from May 2016 until June 2018. In his new role, Carlander will be responsible for the overall strategy and operations for all sports and racing products, as well as product teams across the Svenska Spel business. He will also be charged with launching new products and developing existing ones to gain market share, as well as being responsible for the P&L of all sports and racing products. Carlander began his role on 2 August and is based in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. He will report into Fredrik Wastenson, Svenska Spel Sport & Casino CEO. Speaking on his return, Carlander said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to join a strong and inspiring exec team at a company with great values and ambitions. “I look forward to building new and developing existing market leading products with internal teams and external partners. Together we want to offer our customers the best and safest gaming experience in the world,” he added. Wastenson commented: “Per brings a deep and broad understanding of the business and will be perfect fit to our ambitious and professional management team at Svenska Spel Sport & Casino. “With Per onboard I’m sure we will continue our successful development and further strengthen our position in the Swedish market,” he added.
