Svenska Spel saw continued growth in Q4 2021 following previous uptick
Swedish operator reported 4.8% rise in total revenue, boosted by the continued Cosmopol success
Svenska Spel has recorded a 4.8% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net gaming revenue (NGR) for Q4 2021 to SEK2.23bn (£180.2m), as its Casino Cosmopol and Vegas land-based slot machines business grew NGR by 78% compared to Q4 2020. The Swedish operator recorded an increase of SEK102m NGR from SEK2.13bn posted in Q3 2020. The only part of the operator’s business that has seen a decrease YoY is the sport and casino side which posted revenue of SEK585m in comparison to SEK634m in Q4 2020, which is a 7.7% fall. Tur, the lottery side of the business, saw a slight increase of 1.8% from SEK1.327bn to SEK1.351bn. This means that Tur accounts for 59% of the operator’s overall revenue. Casino Cosmopol and Vegas saw increases both quarterly and YoY as revenue increased by SEK5m quarterly and SEK130m annually. The YoY increase can be attributed to the reopening of retail operations in Sweden following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in Q3 2021. Svenska Spel’s land-based slot machines business also posted combined revenue of SEK297m. Patrik Hofbauer, Svenska Spel CEO, said: “I am pleased that the board intends to propose a dividend of SEK2.9bn to our owner. The fact that our surplus goes to the Swedish people via the Treasury is one of the reasons why we are the entire Swedish gaming company. “Our operations are still strongly affected by the pandemic, but as a whole we have good growth and profitability for the group,” he added.
