Svenska Spel hires new head of sustainability
Scarlett Roa will be responsible for business ethics, anti-corruption issues and gender equality within the operator
Svenska Spel has hired a new head of sustainability to lead the Swedish monopoly’s responsible gambling strategy.
Scarlett Roa joins the operator from Stockholm-based digital media agency Authority, where she was the acting CEO for the past six months.
Roa’s career background also includes stints as business adviser and sustainability manager at management consultancy Almi.
She holds a degree and masters in law and has previously focused on diversity issues form a legal perspective.
Roa said the role would see her lead the operator’s work in sustainability, business ethics, anti-corruption issues and gender equality.
“We have an exciting time ahead of us with a new gaming legislation that will come into force at the turn of the year and will place higher demands on all players in the market,” Roa added.
Joakim Mörnefält, communications and sustainability director at Svenska Spel, said: “I am extremely pleased that Scarlett will start playing Svenska Spel.
“She has a lot to contribute and comes in with a broad competence and background that will strengthen our already unobtrusive position in gaming responsibility and sustainability.”
Roa will take over the role from Zenita Strandänger who left the company recently for Hallbara Gotland, a corporate network that promotes sustainability in Sweden.
