SPORTSBOOK.COM-owner Jazette Enterprises is to leave the Cake poker network to join the Merge Gaming network.
The deal will see Jazette Enterprises’ Sportsbook.com, PlayersOnly.com and Superbook.com sites transfer their poker operations to the Merge Gaming platform by the middle of April.
Sportsbook.com is one of the biggest US-facing sports betting sites, and as reported on EGRmagazine.com, was included on a list of 141 domain names that the US state of Kentucky attempted to seize, but was prevented from doing so by a January 2009 decision from the Kentucky Court of Appeals.
Ireland’s Merge Gaming presently has the 20th highest liquidity worldwide, according to PokerScout.com, and is Kahnawake-licensed. The Jazette brands will join others on the network including Aced; CarbonPoker, which broke the world record for a bad beat jackpot in February 2009; and IronDuke; with PokerFantasy understood to have moved to the Merge poker network last week.
Merge Gaming chief executive Anthony Taylor described the deal as “industry-changing”¦[that] “¦will bring massive liquidity to the network and see the online poker industry landscape change overnight.”
