Sportradar secures Asian football data rights
Data giant inks eight-year agreement with continent’s governing body for club and national team competitions
Sportradar has put pen to paper on a video and data partnership with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Under the remit of the agreement, Sportradar will become the official video and data distribution partner for the region’s governing body.
The agreement covers the data rights cycles of 2021-2024 and 2025-2028 and will see Sportradar collate and distribute data from AFC national team and club competitions throughout the decade.
Sportradar will be permitted to distribute the data to its worldwide sportsbook partners for competitions including the AFC Champions League and AFC Asian Cup, which is scheduled to be held in China in 2023.
Carsten Koerl, Sportradar CEO, said: “We are proud to partner with the AFC in this watershed moment for Asian football. With the importance of Asia, we believe that this agreement is a strategic opportunity that will provide Sportradar further leverage in the region.
“This puts us in an unrivalled position that will showcase a wider range of services we have to offer to engage more sports rights holders in the region,” he added.
Dato’ Windsor John, AFC general secretary, commented: “We welcome Sportradar as our official video and data distribution partner. The agreement will bring AFC football closer to an ever-growing international fanbase and consumers.”
