Sportingbet Australia marketing exec made redundant
Richard Howarth had been with the operator for less than two years
Richard Howarth, marketing and sales director with Sportingbet Australia, has been made redundant following the acquisition of the business by William Hill.
According to Australian media site mUmBRELLA, Howarth will also leave the board of the company, having overseen the integration of the Centrebet brand after it was acquired by Sportingbet in May 2011.
William Hill took over Sportingbet’s Australian business following the completion of a joint takeover with GVC holdings earlier this year. GVC has assumed responsibility for the operator’s Danish business as well as its operations in a number of unregulated markets.
The London-listed firm has since appointed former Virtue Fusion chief executive Aaron Johnson to its corporate development office, where he will work on the integration of the Australian business.
“The Marketing department of this business has grown aggressively over the years and Richard has done a great job in managing this growth,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.
Howarth said his time at Sportingbet Australia had been “a pleasure and great experience”, describing the role as “incredibly competitive and fast moving”.
