Sporting Index promotes Trim to CEO
Simon Trim has been appointed to head up the group following the resignation of Warren Murphy
Sporting Index Group has appointed long-serving Simon Trim (pictured) as its new chief executive following the departure of Warren Murphy.
The appointment sees Trim, who has been with Sporting Index for 18 years, promoted from his current role as managing director of the group’s B2B arm Sporting Solutions, a position he has held since 2011.
News of Trim’s hire comes just one week after eGaming Review revealed that Murphy had tendered his resignation. Murphy will remain with the firm until the end of April in order to ensure a smooth handover process.
Commenting on his appointment, Trim said he looked forward to driving the firm forward on both the B2C and B2B sides of the business.
“The Sporting Index Group has always been a quiet powerhouse within the gambling industry, offering a differentiated consumer betting product through Sporting Index and underpinning a lot of the recent in-play growth in the wider market through Sporting Solutions,” Trim said.
“It has never been in better shape to continue maximising its opportunities in the market, and I’m delighted to have been chosen to take it forward,” he added.
Last week EGR reported that Sporting Solutions business development director Ronnie Whelan would leave the firm at the end of March in order to take up a trading director role with Sky Bet.
The change in personnel at Sporting Index comes after the firm was last year bought out by business man Magnus Hedman, who also owns operator Pinnacle Sports and B2B firm Touchbet.
