Spanish poker networks begin to take shape
GTECH, Prima Networks and Ongame announce network members for the dot.es market.
Three of the leading poker network providers have revealed the makeup of their Spanish-facing operations in the week the country’s General Directorate of Online Gaming (DGOJ) began awarding egaming licences.
GTECH G2 has announced the launch of the Spanish Poker Network (SPN) with members including land-based operator Orenes and Gaming Media Group brand PokerHeaven.
Ongame has gone live with Paf as well as Goalgaming brands Goalwin and PokerMambo, while Goalwin white-label PokerLoco completes the four-strong network. Another of Ongame’s dot.com network partners, Betfair, announced yesterday that it had been licensed in Spain for sportsbook and casino games but is yet to apply for a poker license in the jurisdiction.
Meanwhile Prima Networks, the Microgaming-powered Spanish-facing network, has named Cirsa, Ladbrokes, Betway, Interwetten and Stan James as its first dot.es partners.
The make-up of a Spanish-facing iPoker network is currently unclear, although eGR understands bet365 is among the operators involved.
bet365 is one of several operators whose dot.com poker offerings sit on the Playtech-powered network and have received dot.es licences, along with Paddy Power and William Hill. eGR expects Playtech to announce the names of further licensees in the near future.
Some 27 operators have confirmed the approval of their licence applications, with Sportingbet and PokerStars among the first to issue such a confirmation last Friday. eGR sources have revealed that 53 of the 59 companies to apply for licences have been successful, with these companies evenly split between Spanish (27) and overseas (26).
The full list of successful applicants will be published on the DGOJ site on 15 June.
