Smarkets unveils quartet of C-level appointments
Robin Harrison returns to exchange operator as CTO while Hero Gaming’s Chris Baldacchino arrives as chief compliance officer
London-based exchange operator Smarkets has strengthened its executive team by making four new C-level appointments, the company announced today.
Robin Harrison, a former engineering team lead at Smarkets, has re-joined the operator as chief technology officer (CTO) after a year in the role of head of engineering at Asto, a fintech start-up backed by Santander bank.
Harrison will be joined at Smarkets by Chris Baldacchino who arrives from Hero Gaming as chief compliance officer, having held the same role at the Malta-based firm.
Tom Hardman and Céline Crawford have been promoted to chief operations officer and chief commercial officer respectively from within, with Hardman being one of Smarkets’ longest-serving employees having joined the firm back in 2010.
The newly-appointed quartet will join Smarkets CEO and founder Jason Trost on the operator’s executive management team.
Trost said: “I’m delighted to welcome Robin and Chris to the company, as well as adding two of our most dedicated employees, Céline and Tom, to the executive team.
“Robin, having been a team lead at Smarkets previously, is well-placed to develop and advance our class-leading product further, while Chris’s industry expertise will be invaluable as we look to expand to new territories, such as the emerging US market and other European countries.
“Both Céline and Tom are integral employees who have been with the company for many years and fully deserve their promotions, having played a big part in our recent success,” he added.
Smarkets, which finished 47th in last year’s EGR Power 50, is still beta-testing its SBK sportsbook.
