Sky Betting and Gaming has bolstered its anti-fraud and player protection capabilities after finalising an agreement with identity intelligence solution firm GBGroup.
The Leeds-based operator is the first online gambling company to utilise the firm’s transaction monitoring technology which will enable it to boost fraud protection and promote responsible gambling.
The software is similar to that used in the banking sector to detect credit card fraud and will also allow Sky to monitor player behaviour more effectively as it extends its eight-year relationship with GBGroup.
“They [GBGroup] provide our identity verification solutions and, as we look towards further international expansion, their solutions ensure we are ready for the challenge of new jurisdictions as well as maintaining our regulatory compliance,” Dan Whitlam, head of fraud and risk at Sky Betting and Gaming, said.
“By extending our identity intelligence solutions into the transaction monitoring area this gives us the tools to react to the ever changing customer behaviours, regulatory landscape and industry trends,” he added.
News of the deal comes just a week after Sky Betting and Gaming joined ESSA as the 18th operator to join the sports betting integrity body.
“Sky Betting and Gaming have long recognised that robust security checks ensure they know exactly who is participating in their virtual arena and they look to leave no room for error,” GBGroup’s head of gaming, Peter Murray, said.
“The key challenge is to distinguish between fraudulent and ‘good’ gamers, VIP’s or problem gambling and Sky Betting and Gaming is at the forefront of online companies looking to take responsibility for ensuring they support and facilitate ethical gaming,” he added.
