Sky Betting & Gaming invests £11m in major recruitment drive
Operator to increase headcount by 200 as it also unveils plans to open up a new customer services hub in Leeds
Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) has announced plans to invest £11m into a major recruitment drive which will see company headcount increase by 200 and the opening of a new customer services hub in Leeds.
The expansive plans will be backed by a £250,000 marketing campaign with the new roles to be split across its technology and customer services teams, with half of all new hires to work out of the operator’s recently opened tech office in Sheffield.
Following the hires, which are expected to be finalised within the coming financial year, SB&G’s headcount will reach approximately 900 people across its three Yorkshire-based offices.
“With the business performing well we have decided that now is the time to significantly increase our investment in people and facilities,” Richard Flint, chief executive of Sky Betting & Gaming, said.
“This is a vote of confidence not only in our own plans to make betting and gaming better but also in the health of the Yorkshire economy,” he added.
In addition to the new jobs and customer services office in Leeds city centre, the £11m will also be spent on the launch of a software and commercial academy, as well as expanding into a new floor at its head office.
The operator has been rapidly expanding the size of the company in recent months, including the opening of new offices in Sheffield and Rome to aid the operator’s planned launch in Italy.
Earlier this year SB&G also announced the creation of an additional 90 jobs based out of its Wellington Place headquarters across all divisions of the business including technology, product development and marketing.
“This is fantastic news for the city and further evidence of Leeds’ strength as a digital hub,” Leeds City councillor, Judith Blake, said.
“We’re delighted that Sky Betting & Gaming continues to invest in job opportunities here and the rest of Yorkshire,” she added.
