Sky Sports Racing unveils host team for first ever Racing League
Viewers to see a total of 36 races over six weeks at Newcastle, Doncaster, Lingfield and Windsor
Sky Sports Racing has revealed its stellar line up of hosts for its coverage of the inaugural Racing League beginning on 29 July at Newcastle.
The anchor team comprises of Alex Hammond, Josh Apiafi and Leonna Mayor and they will be joined by cricket legends David Lloyd and Michael Holding, plus model and broadcaster Rosie Tapner.
Hammond said: “It’s always exciting to see innovation in sport and I can’t wait to be involved with the Racing League this summer.
“As we’ve seen in other sports, fans are keen to embrace new formats, and at Sky Sports Racing we look forward to bringing this new competition to our viewers, and hopefully attract a new audience too,” she added.
The presentation team will be track-side for the drama, and will be onsite at all of the league’s venues, which include Newcastle, Doncaster, Lingfield and Windsor.
As part of the in-depth coverage, racecards, league tables, replays and team blogs will be part of the comprehensive analysis available to viewers.
The new Racing League will go ahead for six weeks and 12 teams will battle it out every Thursday evening, where six races will take place for £50,000 in prize money.
A points system will decide the league table, from a maximum 25 points awarded to a race winner, down to a single point for 10th place.
After the full 36 races have been completed, the team with the most points will win the first ever Racing League title.
The teams have star studded line ups as Frankie Dettori will top the bill for the Newmarket Red team, alongside fellow jockeys Luke Morris and Jamie Spencer.
