Sky Bet extends Touch ID to casino app
Sky Vegas app receive fingerprint log-in functionality one week following successful sports betting rollout
Sky Betting & Gaming has extended its rollout of Touch ID functionality to its Sky Vegas casino app, eGR Mobile Intelligence can reveal.
The operator claimed an industry first when it introduced the capability to its flagship sports betting app a fortnight ago, and the success of its adoption has led the operator to integrate across its mobile casino app.
A similar phased introduction method was used and eGRMI understands Touch ID has now been rolled out across 100% of Sky Vegas customers.
Sky Betting & Gaming head of mobile Andrew Walton said the operator had received âoverwhelmingly positiveâ feedback from its customers for introducing the capability, which allows customers to log in to their accounts simply by utilising the iPhoneâs in-built fingerprint scanner.
Apple first introduced the technology with its iPhone 5S device, released last year, however it wasnât until the release of iOS 8 in September that third party apps were allowed to utilise it.
Touch ID has been identified as a potentially key innovation for mobile gambling operators over the next twelve months and earlier this week Betfair revealed it was planning on introducing it to its mobile product suite during a product presentation to investors and analysts.
