Sky Bet doubles office space at Leeds tech hub
Growing staff numbers and productivity prompts operator to increase work areas to match growth
Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) has doubled its office space at the firm’s Leeds tech hub in a move to accommodate growing staff numbers and productivity.
SB&G now occupies floors two and three of building number six at the city centre hub, in addition to its current HQ of three floors in building number two.
The new workspace, which houses 150 tech staffers split into 15 teams, has been designed to minimise disruption and provide workers with the resources to focus on problem-solving projects.
Working in zones, the office space features tailored and visible live management information, moveable dry wipe walls, showcase work stations and hot desk work stations.
Paul McCormick, head of technology in the Bet Tribe, said the new office marks a “huge step-change” in order to match its growth ambitions.
“It’s been important to have a purpose built space to grow the business, improve efficiency, improve retention and explore innovation, designed for everyone,” McCormick said.
“The bet floor is a concept for teams whose day-to-day work isn’t task or process driven and is tailored in an open plan way.
“This motivates our people who creative problem solve, giving them autonomy, a sense of ownership and an environment to complement the strides we’ve made in developing efficient working practices.”
A whole floor is dedicated to customer operations, trading and social teams, with new training facilities and a customer interview suite that broadcasts live end-user feedback to product teams.
There is also a football pitch for company-wide stand up meetings, tech bars and booths.
The operator’s total presence at Leeds’ Wellington Place office has grown to 80,000 sq ft, providing an additional 460 desk spaces for its bet, gaming, contact centre, customer operations and trading teams.
