Skrill seals Football Conference sponsorship deal
Online payment provider named as title sponsor in three-year partnership
Online payments provider Skrill has announced a three-year sponsorship deal with the Football Conference, taking over from Blue Square Bet.
The agreement will see the double eGR B2B Award winner become title sponsor for the three divisions, which will now be known as the Skrill Premier, Skrill North and Skrill South divisions until the end of the 2015/16 football season.
Football Conference chairman Brian Lee said of the agreement “We are positive Skrill will attract other brand names who wish to be part of our ever growing football family”.
The move follows Blue Square Bet’s decision not to renew its sponsorship of the league following the brand’s acquisition by Betfair in April.
“By teaming up with the Football Conference we want to bring non-league football to more fans and enable them to support and access their local team in new and exciting ways,” Skrill president and CEO Siegfried Heimgaertner said.
Skrill appointed Neil Steinhardt to head up its US business in March this year, after completing its acquisition of paysafecard in the previous month.
