SCi Power 25: Caesars Interactive retains number one spot
CIE holds-off competition from IGT and Zynga to top social power list for second consecutive year
Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE) has retained the number one position in Social Casino Intelligence‘s (SCi) Power 25 after beating International Game Technology (IGT) and Zynga into second and third place respectively.
SCi, eGaming Review‘s sister publication for the social gaming industry, judged CIE to have topped almost every judging criteria, including scale of operation, product diversity and mobile performance.
However, it was its phenomenal revenue growth which made CIE really stand out from its closest competitors with social casino revenues of $140m, almost double those of IGT and CIE’s own Q2 results in the comparative period last year after it continued its aggressive M&A strategy with the acquisition of Pacific Interactive in February.
CIE managed to fend off a strong challenge from IGT, with IGT’s DoubleDown business having had a successful 12 months with total revenues up from US$61.4m in Q2 2013 to $72.8m in Q2 2014, while mobile revenue almost doubled during the same period.
And with IGT moving up to take second-place, Zynga fell to number three following mixed fortunes over the last 12 months, however, the San Francisco-based firm still remains a key industry player with Zynga Poker the largest social casino game by MAU and the success of its new game Hit It Rich Slots.
This year’s Power 25 features five new entries, while some of the biggest climbers include High 5 Games and Product Madness which take top 10 positions for the first time.
