Rivalry lands new VP of marketing
Toronto-based esports operator hires Liam Doherty to take charge of executing global campaigns
Esports betting-centric operator Rivalry has appointed experienced marketing expert Liam Doherty as the operator’s new VP of marketing.
Doherty joins the firm from real estate company Zillow where he served as marketing lead from June 2020 until January of this year.
He has previously worked on award-winning campaigns for the likes of Pizza Hut, adidas, Nike, Google and Popeyes.
In his role as VP of marketing at Isle of Man-licensed Rivalry, Doherty will lead the company-wide efforts on marketing, which includes developing and executing global campaigns.
He will also be tasked with leading cross-department collaboration to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with Rivalry’s sportsbook customer experience.
Speaking on Doherty’s arrival, Rivalry CEO Steven Salz said: “Liam joining Rivalry represents a step function change in the calibre at which we will be executing from here on out in terms of brand, marketing and campaigns.
“His experience working with some of the biggest brands in the world from Old Spice to Popeyes to adidas, and the style of his approach, is a perfect match for us, and what is needed to take Rivalry’s global presence to the next level.
“It should be seen as a signal for what 2022 is going to look like from us, which will make our last few years of operation seem like a light warm up,” he added.
Headquartered in Toronto, Rivalry boasts a global team situated in more than 18 countries.
Earlier this month, Rivalry announced that revenue increased 600% year-on-year to $8.9m for the company’s most recent reported quarter, Q3 2021.
